Schools and Kindergartens
A school trip to a museum is not only exciting and fascinating, it also has great educational value! The museum opens earlier in the morning for school classes and kindergarten groups on weekdays (except Tuesdays) with the doors opening at 9 am.
Guided tours for school pupils and children are designed to be lively and engaging and powerfully convey the particular exhibition theme. You can look at picture motifs, art periods or artists’ biographies and make links to other school subjects such as German, history, ethics, religion, philosophy, music or foreign languages. Teachers are regularly invited to attend training sessions on the exhibitions. We look forward to welcoming you!
Free admission for children, school pupils, and teachers accompanying the group.

Themed Guided Tours
We offer guided tours and workshops for school classes and kindergarten groups tailored to age groups and teaching subjects. The 50-minute guided tours are an opportunity to generate a discussion about the works of art in the exhibition rooms.

Barberini Live Tour
The Barberini Live Tour offers groups the possibility to visit the exhibitions in the museum virtually. Together with a guide you will visit all exhibition rooms online and experience the paintings up close. In conversation with the guide you can learn more about the artists, their works and the context of their creation – almost as if you were in the museum. The Live Tour is also available to schools and kindergartens.

Ideas for Teachers, Parents, and Grandparents
Our media library includes a wide range of ideas and materials for parents and teachers, ranging from handicraft instructions and an encyclopedia of artists to role-playing and a writing lab – all designed to help you explore the current exhibition together with your children or pupils. All materials are available free of charge.

Training Sessions for Teachers
Each exhibition is accompanied by a training session for teachers from all German states. All teachers attending the training are given an introduction to the topic and educational materials as well as information on the program for school classes for the current exhibitions.
