The following individuals are entitled to free admission to the Museum Barberini – on presentation of the necessary proof:
- Children and young people under the age of 18 and school pupils over the age of 18
- Recipients of unemployment benefits (ALG 1), basic security benefits for job seekers (ALG II – Hartz IV) or social benefits, holders of the Berlin Pass
- Carers accompanying people with disabilities (confirmed with “B” in disability certificate)
- Journalists with a valid press card
- Members of ICOM
- Members of the German Museum Association, the German Art Historian Association, the German Federal Association of Museum Education.
- Members of the Association of German Tour Guides, the BBS Berlin Guides Association.
- Fine artists listed in the German Federal Association of Fine Artists
- Members of Sotheby’s Preferred (plus free admission for 3 people)
- Holders of the Berlin WelcomeCard All Inclusive
- Holders of a valid Barberini Friends annual ticket
Even if you qualify for free admission, please book a free time slot (€ 0) for your visit as we can only accommodate a limited number of visitors in the museum at any one time.
The following people are entitled to a reduced admission fee on entry to Museum Barberini – on presentation of the necessary proof:
- Students, apprentices/trainees
- People with disabilities (from 50% degree of disability)
- Young adults taking part in Voluntary Social Year program, young adults taking part in German Federal Volunteers Service
- Volunteers working in museums
- Holders of the Berlin WelcomeCard (25% reduction on the regular admission fee)
Please note that we cannot offer pensioners reduced admission.

Come and relax in the Barberini Café & Restaurant after your visit to the exhibition or an event and enjoy tasty light meals, quiches, salads, and delicious cakes. In the summer months, you can also sit outside in the courtyard of the museum with a view of the scenic “Alte Fahrt” waterway of the River Havel and the “Freundschaftsinsel” or Friendship Island – the most beautiful place to round off your visit to the museum!

City Walking Tour
The “Italy in Potsdam” audio tour on the Barberini app invites you to discover 30 buildings and works of art located around the Museum Barberini, which were created in Potsdam in the Italian style during the 18th and 19th centuries. Attractions include the “Nikolaikirche” (St. Nicholas Church), the Brandenburg Gate and the Orangery Palace at Sanssouci – the walk takes you through the town and reveals astonishing parallels between the buildings of Potsdam and Italian architecture.

FAQs
During your visit to the museum, you can hire the Barberini App on your own smartphone. The app not only offers audio tours for adults and children but also service information and editorial content such as video interviews with experts. Museum audio equipment is currently not available.
Your health and that of the staff of the Museum Barberini remain our highest priority. In order to make your visit as pleasant, but also as safe, as possible we have developed comprehensive safety and hygiene measures, which include a reduction of the number of visitors and the regulation of admission times with timeslot tickets, optimized visitor guidance throughout the museum as well as the increased disinfection of sensitive areas. You can buy gift vouchers from the museum cash desk during regular opening hours. The vouchers are not linked to specific articles so you can use them to buy annual season tickets, normal entry tickets and food and drinks in the museum café. The gift voucher cannot be used for articles in the museum shop.

Baby carriages and strollers can be taken into all the galleries. Strollers are also available free of charge for the duration of your visit. Please contact our guest services in the foyer if you are interested.
Taking photographs and filming in the galleries is allowed for private purposes but may be restricted for copyright reasons. For more details on this, please ask at the museum. We would like to point out that publishing online or posting them on social media is not considered private use and may, under certain circumstances, violate copyright laws.
