Families and Children
The Museum Barberini offers kids, teens and families a variety of opportunities to experience the exhibitions as an adventure and to actively explore the world of art. Dedicated art educators guide visitors through the museum in an age-appropriate manner and tell exciting stories about the works of art.
Currently, programs for families and children do not take place as usual as guided tours in the galleries, but in the auditorium with a maximum of 25 people. Our young visitors can discover the art of the impressionists here. An online booking is required in advance.
Free admission to the exhibitions for children and teens under 18 as well as school pupils. Please book a free online ticket in advance.

Children Explain Art
Barberini Kid guides between the ages of ten and sixteen present their favorite pictures from the collection. They explain why Monet was so fond of painting grainstacks, why he and his artist friends painted outdoors in the wind and rain, why they didn’t like the color black, why people first made fun of their painting style before they became famous, and much more!
Barberini for Bambini on the Weekend: Art for Children in the Auditorium
Do you like to play outdoors too? The Impressionists preferred painting outdoors at all times of the day and in all seasons, in meadows, fields, and forests, near the river, and by the sea. Together we will look at Impressionist paintings on the large media wall in the auditorium and learn about which colors they liked to use and how they reproduced light, water, wind, clouds, and flowers. For children between five and twelve.
Art for Young Parents: Museum with a Baby
Experience art with your baby. Following an introductory lecture in the auditorium, parents with babies (up to one year old) can engage in conversation about art with a guide in a relaxed atmosphere. Baby carriages are allowed in the auditorium.
