International Museum Day
Sun, May 17, 10 a.m.
The Museum Barberini invites you to International Museum Day on Sunday, May 17, 2026. With free admission, you can enjoy the exhibition Avant-Garde: Max Liebermann and Impressionism in Germany and immerse yourself in the masterpieces of the Hasso Plattner Collection. In addition, a diverse program is on offer:
10 a.m.–7 p.m.: Free admission to the Museum Barberini (last admission at 6 p.m.)
11 a.m., 1 p.m., 3 p.m.: Public introductory lecture, Auditorium
Using a digital presentation on the large media wall, one of our experienced Barberini guides will provide an overview of the art in the museum, tell the stories behind the paintings, and explain the exhibition concept. Following the lecture, visitors can experience the originals on an individual tour.
12 PM–4 PM: Open Studio, in the courtyard / in the studio in case of bad weather
All visitors are invited to paint on a long canvas as part of Oscar Murillo’s participatory project Social Mapping, thereby contributing to the creation of a collaborative open-air painting.
Participants are free to draw and doodle on the canvas as they please using pencils, colored pencils, and ballpoint pens. After the event, the canvas will be stored at the MINSK Kunsthaus Potsdam alongside canvases from around the world.
In case of bad weather, the event will take place in the Barberini Studio.
This project is a collaboration between MINSK and the Barberini Museum in conjunction with the current exhibition Oscar Murillo: Collective Osmosis at the MINSK Kunsthaus in Potsdam.
12:30 p.m., 2:30 p.m.: Dance performances, in the courtyard / in the museum in case of bad weather
The Museum Barberini becomes a place of vibrant encounters: The dancers of the JugendTanzCompany at fabrik Potsdam bring movement to the museum and, together with choreographer Adi Weinberg, engage directly with the works of Max Liebermann through movement research. Their impressions give rise to a short performance in which painting and dance merge. This opens up new ways of experiencing art—sensory, dynamic, and lived in the moment.
The project is a collaboration between fabrik Potsdam and the Barberini Museum
