Introduction to the unicorn exhibition in DGS
No other animal has so profoundly inspired the imagination of artists. The exhibition Unicorn: The Mythical Beast in Art explores the multilayered significance of the unicorn across centuries and documents its artistic representation in paintings, tapestries, sculptures, manuscripts, photography, and video from earliest times to the present day.
The exhibition brings together more than 140 works from over 80 international collections including the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam, the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, the Museo nacional del Prado, Madrid, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, and the Musée du Louvre, Paris.
