120 minutes art for families

Multiple dates

Art for the whole family (ages 7–99): whether parents or grandparents with children, relatives, friends or individual guests – everyone is welcome here. Spend two hours drawing inspiration from the art at the Museum Barberini and get creative yourself! After a short guided tour, during which you will discover selected originals and learn more about techniques, styles and motifs, you will create your own works of art in the subsequent workshop – with interactive guidance and to take home with you.

Print it! Linocut printing workshop
Draw inspiration from the artworks in the current exhibition at the Museum Barberini and use them to develop your own design ideas. In the Atelier, you can experiment with linocut printing, create your own designs and then transfer them onto paper using the printing press.

Painting like Morisot
Berthe Morisot was one of the most important female painters of the Impressionist movement – she painted harbours, her family and everyday life, and even modelled for a famous artist herself. You’ll hear fascinating stories from her life and be inspired by her paintings in the exhibition, before getting creative yourselves in the Atelier and experimenting with brushes and paint.

Painting into the Blue. Cyanotype workshop
Light and shadow: using cyanotype, you’ll transform simple found objects into mysterious images – without a camera. In the current exhibition, you’ll gather inspiration and discover how artists work with light and shadow. Afterwards, you’ll experiment with natural materials, stencils and various objects. With the help of light, your composition will magically transform into a picture of your own.

Your face in clay. A hands-on portrait
How do artists depict a face whilst expressing different emotions? In the current exhibition, you’ll take a leaf out of the Impressionists’ book to see how they create portraits and busts. Afterwards, you’ll sketch out an initial idea for your own portrait. In the Atelier, you’ll then use clay to model your own bust – exactly as you imagine it.
