Art and Meditation
Multiple dates
How does our perception change when we take time—for art, and for ourselves? The new evening program Art and Meditation at the Museum Barberini opens up an experiential space where guests can encounter the works in the collection with mindful presence. Under the direction of Patricia Thielemann, selected works of art are combined with literary impulses, music, breathing exercises, and guided meditations. The focus is on direct experience: seeing, sensing, and lingering as a conscious complement to art historical observation—a deepening of perception through stillness and concentration.
With its dynamic play of light, color, and movement, Impressionist painting develops a special intensity when experienced with this form of awareness. Art and Meditation creates a protected space for a slow, personal encounter with the works of art. At the end of the evening, an opportunity for conversation offers space for resonance and individual impressions.
Patricia Thielemann founded Spirit Yoga in 2004. The Spirit Yoga style, which she developed on the basis of numerous international trainings, has decisively influenced modern yoga in German-speaking Europe. With two locations in Berlin, Spirit Yoga now numbers among the best-known yoga schools in Germany. Over the past twenty-two years, Thielemann has trained over 1,000 yoga teachers, advised corporations on mindfulness programs, and led retreats in locations including Elmau Castle, the island of Sylt, and Thailand. She is a speaker and author and has been a mental health columnist for Der Tagesspiegel and Handelsblatt.
