VOICES: A Digital Companion to Networks of Impressionism
Six digital projects translate the research undertaken by Networks of Impressionism into a range of interpretive formats. Bringing together art, literature, photography, sound, and interactive technologies, they offer new ways of engaging with the people, places, and stories behind the paintings. From a graphic novel to an immersive installation at Museum Barberini, each project offers a distinct way of experiencing the networks that shaped Impressionism.
VOICES is one of these digital companions and also serves as the audio guide to the exhibition The Impressionists: Monet, Morisot, Renoir and Their Network. Ten paintings from the Hasso Plattner Collection provide the starting point for ten literary audio pieces written by author Michael Maar. They tell the stories of the artists, their relationships and encounters, and the networks through which their works were created and circulated. Narrated by actors Susanne Wolff and Lavinia Wilson, the audio pieces offer a personal, literary perspective on the history behind the paintings.
